From: Spokane Public LibrarySpokane, WA - Explore the chilling world of science and creation with Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature, a remarkable traveling exhibition from the National Library of Medicine, on display at Central Library from October 7 to November 16. This fascinating exhibit investigates the profound themes of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, a novel that continues to resonate more than 200 years after its publication.
Exhibition Highlights:
- Learn about Frankenstein, peruse local curiosities from Petunia and Loomis, and view materials from the library’s archive.
- Visitors can learn how the novel posed profound questions about individual and societal responsibility for others. Mary Shelley used the scientific advances of her era as a metaphor for issues of unchecked power and self-serving ambition, and their effect on the human community.
