Frankenstein, The Modern Prometheus:
A Haunting Experience
Tickets Selling Fast!

Lachat Town Farm brings you Frankenstein reimagined as an immersive theatrical experience. Audiences are invited into the heart of the novel-walking alongside Victor, Elizabeth, and the Creature through haunting landscapes and intimate moments of dread, beauty, and revelation.

Step into Mary Shelley’s groundbreaking tale of creation, ambition, and consequence like never before. Frankenstein follows Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant yet tormented scientist who defies nature by giving life to the inanimate-only to unleash a being both wondrous and terrifying. As Victor grapples with guilt, fear, and obsession, his Creature demands recognition, love, and vengeance, blurring the line between man and monster. This chilling story, first published in 1818, remains a timeless reflection on human ambition, isolation, and the price of playing God.

This fifth annual haunted Halloween is always a popular event at Lachat. Tickets will sell out, do not wait to purchase! Each time slot has a maximum of 30 guests and is a great option to reserve for large groups.

** The Immersive Halloween Experience may include content that is intense, frightening, and with disturbing imagery. This production contains flashing strobe lighting effects which may not be suitable for those with photosensitivity. Parental discretion is strongly advised. We recommend this event for ages 12 and up. ALL children under 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult.

Dates: Fri/Sat/Sun 10/17-19 & 10/24-26
Time: 6:15, 6:45, 7:15, 7:45, 8:15

Family Portraits at Lachat
A Fundraiser for the Farm

Anyone who has been to Lachat knows there’s a certain magic here-the golden light over rolling hills, meadows in bloom, and our historical barn standing against the sky. This fall, we invite you to step into that beauty and capture it with a family portrait session on the farm, all while supporting the farm.

We are especially grateful to our neighbor, Lachat Commission Member, and professional photographer Bruce Plotkin, who is generously coming out of retirement for a limited number of sessions as a fundraiser for the farm. Bruce’s artistry and deep connection to the farm will ensure your portraits reflect not just your family, but the unique spirit of this place. It’s a perfect chance to prepare for holiday cards, refresh the gallery wall at home, or simply hold on to this fleeting moment before the kids grow and change yet again.

Each session includes:

- A 30-minute photo shoot, with time for both portraits and candid moments.
- A private online gallery with beautiful images to choose from.
- Five high-resolution digital downloads, with the option to purchase additional downloads or prints.

And because this is a fundraiser, every portrait session directly supports the farm-helping us care for our animals, maintain our historic property, and continue offering educational and community programs that bring us all together.

Date:  Sunday, October 12th
Time: 3:00pm/3:45pm/4:30pm
Cost: $425

About Bruce: Bruce Plotkin built a decades-long career as a successful commercial and editorial photographer before following in his father’s footsteps and turning his talents toward weddings, events, and family portraits. Before retiring a few years ago, he captured countless milestones and happy moments for local families. Today, Bruce stays busy by generously sharing his time and talents at Lachat, where his photographs for our Volunteer Spotlight series continue to showcase his gift for putting people at ease and capturing their true spirit in just a few clicks. We feel so fortunate to have Bruce behind the camera once again-and so grateful for his generosity, and yours, in supporting the farm through this special fundraiser.

Farewell to a Fantastic Farmers Market Season!

Last Friday marked our last Farmers Market of the year, graciously sponsored by KMS at Compass. Thank you to all of our friends & neighbors for a truly amazing summer market season. We lucked out with near perfect weather these past 4 months and spent each of those Fridays, celebrating with lively music, delicious food, and the very best community. We are so grateful to everyone who came out to support, not only Lachat, but so many wonderful local vendors. A huge thank you as well to all of our incredible volunteers -- this market is only possible because of you. We look forward to all next year's season will bring!

An Evening With Nicole Zuraitis

Nicole Zuraitis is a 2X GRAMMY® winning and 4X GRAMMY-nominated jazz singer-songwriter, pianist and arranger, New York-based bandleader, and winner of the prestigious 2021 American Traditions Vocal Competition Gold Medal. With a “heart as big as her remarkable voice,” (Jazz Police), Nicole is a trailblazing artist who is redefining vocal jazz, earning her a place as one of the top artists and "prolific songwriters" (Broadway World) to watch in jazz and beyond.

As a recording artist, Nicole has released five albums as leader, and her sixth album How Love Begins, co-produced with eight-time GRAMMY-winner Christian McBride, features all original music and was awarded the 2024 GRAMMY for BEST JAZZ VOCAL ALBUM. Seasonal Thanksgiving, Beyond the Basics Cooking Class

Interested in introducing some unexpected dishes at your Thanksgiving feast?

Join CT food writer, Liz Rueven for this hands-on class focusing on easy, do-ahead preparations that will surprise your guests as you move beyond the classics. Each dish is vegan & gluten-free and we save time at end of the class to enjoy eating around a communal table.

On the menu:

Sweet potato tahini toast bites Start the game day with something nourishing and filling to hold them off until you’re ready to serve the feast.

Kabocha Squash and white bean chili Learn your way around preparing this glorious gourd with an edible skin. Save the seeds and be sure to roast them for a crunchy snack instead of chips. This chili would be a fitting substitute for those who don’t eat turkey. Smaller portions will supplement your sweeter side dishes.

Warm Kale Salad with apples and dried fruit Warm dressing tenderizes kale as it relaxes these hearty greens. Even the kale naysayers will love this one.

Pecan Pie Bites Medjool dates are the star of this one-bite dessert, leaving room for your favorite pies.

About Liz Rueven: Liz is a Westport based culinary freelancer who has been writing her blog, Kosher Like Me, since 2011. She is passionate about encouraging readers to eat within the seasons, explore Jewish foodways and support local farmers and food creatives. Follow her on instagram @kosherlikeme.

Date: Thursday, November 6th
