On June 3, middle school students from Berlin-Boylston and Leominster won awards for their outstanding computer science (CS) education work at the statewide PACE Exhibition led by Education Development Center, a Massachusetts-based non-profit, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Awards included: Berlin-Boylston: Real World Impact Award, Future Innovators Award; Leominster - Sky View: Bright Ideas Award, Future Innovators Award; Leominster – Samoset: Real World Impact Award, Future Innovators Award.
Held at the Northeastern University Innovation Campus in Burlington, the Exhibition was a culminating event for the students, who have been studying CS all year. Students demonstrated their projects for CS industry representatives, event judges, and peers from four other school districts.
Across the Commonwealth, the PACE initiative is working to increase student achievement and interest in CS to meet employers’ needs for a workforce with foundational CS skills and knowledge. PACE is funded by The U.S. Department of Education, as part of the agency’s work to ensure youth are ready to enter the workforce
