About Us:

Stokely Memorial Library, located in a modern stone building in downtown Newport was founded in 1925. A genealogy section, created in the 1960's contains dozens of files crammed with data on Cocke County families, schools, churches, businesses and communities.

Staff can provide the following research services:

Search and Advice

$5.00 per surname (Payable in advance).

Includes searches of family files, census and cemetery records for data pertaining to your family.

You will be advised concerning available material and the approximate cost for further research.

Actual search of records and making copies:

$5.00 per hour

Copies from Microfilm $.50 each page
